The second annual Cal Heights Neighborhood Tree Lighting ceremony will take place Thursday, December 5 from 4:30 to 7:30pm at the corner of Orange Ave. and Bixby Rd. in Long Beach at f/8 Studios and California Heights Market.
This is a free community event sponsored by Long Beach District 5 Councilwoman Megan Kerr's office, and planned in conjunction with the Cal Heights Business District and Cal Heights Neighborhood Association.
At 4:30pm, Councilwoman Kerr and other community leaders will be on hand to make remarks before a spectacular 15' tree is lit followed by a visit from Santa Claus. Holiday choirs from Cal Heights Music, Cal Heights Methodist Church, and local grammy-nominated jazz musician Billy Mohler will provide live music before and after the lighting.
Following the tree lighting ceremony, guests will enjoy the following yummy treats and holiday activities sponsored by local businesses, which will take place behind California Heights Market and f/8 Studios:
- Coffee and hot chocolate from Steelhead Coffee
- Tacos and Tamales from Roxanne's
- Ice Cream from Bixby Creamery
- Chili and Chowder Trolley from The Merchant
- Snow play area sponsored by Long Beach District 5 and Athans Ice House (10 tons of snow!)
- Story time with Santa and Mrs. Claus from f/8 Studios
- Photo opportunities with characters from the Long Beach Ballet Nutcracker
- Cookie decorating with The Cookie Trail
- Holiday pop-up shop and book signing with f/8 Studios
- Holiday music and merchandise with Cal Heights Music
- California Heights Neighborhood informational and merch booth
- California Heights Business District holiday crafts booth
- Toy drive - please bring an unwrapped toy to donate!
- The Center Long Beach informational booth
- Longfellow Elementary PTA informational booth
